What We Believe
Ascension stands within the historic Christian and Anglican tradition.
We believe:
- The Bible is God’s trustworthy Word written
- Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man
- Christ died for our sins and rose again bodily from the dead
- Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ
- The Holy Spirit gives new life and forms God’s people
- Christ will return to judge the living and the dead
We believe God’s grace is sufficient to sustain and restore His people through every season of life. The Christian life is not merely about holding correct beliefs, but about receiving new life through Jesus Christ and growing in hope, faith, holiness, and love by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We look forward with hope to Christ’s return and the fulfilment of all His promises.
We are part of the Church of Confessing Anglicans Aotearoa New Zealand (CCAANZ), a network of Anglican churches committed to historic Christian faith and faithful gospel witness.
As an Anglican church, we stand within the historic faith expressed in:
- The Apostles’ Creed
- The Nicene Creed
- The Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion
